DeployHQ logins are handled by our single sign-on service, [DeployHQ Identity](https://identity.deployhq.com/). You can reset your password from the login page if you've forgotten it, or change it from your Identity profile at any time.

## Resetting a forgotten password

1. Go to the DeployHQ login page at `https://<your-account>.deployhq.com`.
2. Click the **Forgot password?** link below the password field.
3. Enter the email address associated with your DeployHQ user and submit the form.
4. If an account exists for that email, you'll receive a password reset email within a few minutes. Open it and follow the link to set a new password.

For security, the confirmation message is the same whether or not an account exists with that email -- this prevents the form from being used to discover valid user addresses. If you don't receive the email after a few minutes, check your spam folder and confirm you used the same address that's on your DeployHQ user.

## Changing your password while logged in

If you're already signed in and want to rotate your password:

1. Visit [DeployHQ Identity](https://identity.deployhq.com/) and sign in.
2. Open your profile settings and choose **Change password**.
3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice, and save.

Your new password takes effect immediately. Any other browser sessions you have open will need to sign in again -- you can also revoke them from the [Security settings](Article: #177) page in DeployHQ.

## Password requirements

DeployHQ enforces a minimum password strength to protect your account. See [our strong password requirements](Article: #663) for details on what's accepted.

## When password reset is unavailable

There are two situations where the password reset flow doesn't apply:

- **SSO is enforced on your account.** If your account uses [SAML single sign-on](Article: #721) and password login has been disabled, the password reset form won't send an email. Sign in through your identity provider instead, and reset your password there.
- **You haven't activated your account yet.** New users receive an invitation email to set their initial password. If you try to reset before activating, we'll re-send the original invitation rather than a reset link. Check for that email and use it to complete activation.

If you still can't get in, contact our [support team](https://www.deployhq.com/contact) with the email address on the account and we'll help you recover access.

## Programmatic password reset

If you build automation that needs to trigger password resets on behalf of users (for example, an admin tool or onboarding script), you can call the [Reset Password API](Article: #791) directly.
